Shinkyo bridge
JAPAN, NIKKO - August 2012 - Shinkyo sacred bridge , a red lacquered span that arches gracefully across the Daiya River. Legend has it that the hermit who settled Nikko was carried across the river here by two serpents. In feudal times, the sacred bridge could be used only by the emperor. Nikko temple and sanctuary site calssified as Japanese Cultural property and world cultural and natural heritage by UNESCO [FR] Le pont sacre Jinkyo, en bois laque rouge qui enjambe la rivière Daiya. La legende dit qu'un hermitte qui fonda les premiers temples de Nikko, y traversa la rivière sur 2 serpents. Mais au Moyen age, seul l'Empereur pouvait traverser le pont.
